As number 1 ranked female tennis player in the world for 15 years, and a new mother, Serena Williams is not without controversy. Her recent altercation at the US Open women's final led to so many important discussions, from women and racism in sport, to new mothers returning to work. Serena never fitted the stereotypical female tennis players we were so familiar with in the past and we see her as a positive role model despite her recent bad press.
Promoting body positivity for the shape you are and an activist for social change for people of colour, Serena uses her astonishing 20 million + social media followers to express her opinions of wanting her daughter can grow up in an equal world of diversity and inclusivity for all.
She has created her own fashion brand 'S' which inspire women to be "strong, sexy, sophisticated, sassy, sure, smart, stylish, silly, and spontaneous".
She also runs her own charity, The Serena Williams Foundation/Fund and supports and raises equity for at least a dozen more extremely worthwhile charities.
We think she's one cool mama!
